Privacy statement for participation in one or several of Firesafe’s e-learning courses

Purpose

Firesafe handles and stores your personal data to provide you with one of our e-learning courses.

Who is responsible?

Firesafe AS is responsible for the processing for your personal data that is needed in order to provide you with our e-learning courses.

Why are you given this information?

We have received your contact information from directly from you or from your employer, because you are going to attend one of our online e-learning courses.

What does participation this mean for you?

In order for us to register who attends the courses and keep track of participants we need to process your name and email-address. In addition, we will process your progress in the course, quiz and survey results.

Your personal privacy – how we will store and use your personal data

We will only use your personal data for the purpose specified here and we will process your personal data in accordance with data protection legislation (the GDPR).  

If you accept, we will also store your personal data, so that we can contact you once it is time to redo one of your courses, these is if you have taken one of our courses that requires a certificate that expires within x amount of years. 

Only administrative support personnel at Firesafe will have access to your personal data, in order to provide and administrate the courses. Your personal data will be stored securely at Firesafes systems and at the platform we use to distribute the course. This platform is called Thinkific. 

  • Thinkific, our data processor, will store your personal data (name and contact data) in order to provide and distribute the e-learning courses. Thinkific also handles some data about how you interact with their website and our courses, in order to give you and us at Firesafe the best user experience.
  • If you choose to pay online, our data processor, Shopify will also store name, email address and payment information. Shopify also process technical data about visitors to their site, such as IP-address, browser and details on how a user browse Shopify’s website. 
  • Thinkific and Shopify are two Canada owned companies. They both use servers and sub processors located in the US. However, data will be securely encrypted when stored in these servers and the data stored is limited. Firesafe as done a thorough assessment of the transfer of personal data to the US, including at Transfer Impact Assessment that has concluded that the use of these services provides sufficient safeguards and guarantees.


What will happen to your personal data?

We will store personal data in our system as long as you are a student at one of our courses. Your personal data will be deleted from our data processors (Thinkific) if and when we terminate our agreement with them. If you get in contact with us at Firesafe we can delete data upon your request.

Your rights

So long as you can be identified, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data that is being processed about you
  • request that your personal data is deleted
  • request that incorrect personal data about you is corrected/rectified
  • send a complaint to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority regarding the processing of your personal data


What gives us the right to process your personal data?

We will process your personal data based on a contract with you or your employee, at is necessary for us to handle your personal data in order to provide the e-learning courses.
